There you can find 50 species of tropical plants. They are bananas, lemons, pineapples, tangerines, pomegranates and papayas. You can find even such rare fruit as naranjilla. Naranjilla is often called water of gods. The tastes of pineapple, strawberry, lemon and mandarin are combineв in this fruit juice. All this and that can seen in the large "thermos" style hothouse in village of Rozhny in Kiev region.

The hothouse has been founded by Alexander Patiy. He will show you how lemons, oranges and bananas bloom. Do you know lemon can be inoculated with tangerine, orange or grapefruit sprigs? Alexander Patiy planted his first citrus plants in the balcony of his city apartment. He has more than 30 years of selection experience. The gem of Patiy's collection is a unique sort of lemon called Kievan lemon. Kievan lemon can be planted even on the northern window sills.

Can you imagine a 80-100 cm high banana plant and there are hundreds of fruit all over it! Can you imagine a miniature tree with figs weighing up to 250 g! And this is a miniature tree in a pot! The Patiy's hothouse productivity is much bigger than the productivity of some hothouses in botanical gardens. For example, the productivity of large fruited fig is up to 30 kg of fruits, the productivity of tangerine tree is up to 100 fruits, the productivity of lemon tree is up to 80 fruits (about 20 kg of lemons from a tree), the productivity of banana plant is up to 400 bananas a year.

Here you can see the fruit of murraya. Sometimes it is called Japanese tangerine. It can be grown in the apartment too. People believe that the fruits of murraya prolong people's life. In medieval Japan only members of the imperial family were entitled to eat murraya. And many members of the Japanese imperial family lived really very long! You will learn all these interesting things during your excursion to the unique hothouse.
